If you are a freshmen in college and not sure about your major, but have an interest in geology, geological engineering, petroleum engineering, oil and energy and like outdoors, then  Geology Field Camp for Freshmen is  for you! This camp provides an understanding of the  earth. How does it work? Minerals, rocks, oil, coal, magmas, landforms and more.....
Some things that you will do and learn about:
  • Minerals, rocks, fossils
  • Oil ,oil wells , drilling and coal
  • topographic  and geologic maps
  • water, landslides, earthquakes
  • geology of the Black Hills
  • making of mountains and landforms
  • volcanoes and magma

          and:

  • Collect minerals, rocks and fossils
  • Live the life of a field geologist for five days

Geology Field Camp for Freshmen gives you a chance to sample real life of geologist and geological engineers in the field. You will camp out, eat real outdoor cooking, visit the museum of geology, library and research labs, and go on field trips to see geologist in action at real geology camps and local industries including oil fields. Camp will start Sunday  at 6:00 PM at MI parking lot and end Friday at noon at the same place. This is an overnight camping activity. We will set up tents for the entire week. Instructors are assigned to the campers in a ratio of one for every ten campers.
